Finally, Completion!

The shed is done.  Last week the roofing and windows were completed.  Our work is done.  Here are a few images.

We have many to thank and much Gratitude! This project was our most complex design build project yet, and it always takes a team.  Thanks to the dedicated students who kept working two weeks past the end of the semester to see this completed.  Thanks to our construction volunteers who spent Saturdays building with us!  Thanks to garden manager Vicki Gerberich and the garden interns for being such great clients.  Thanks to director of facilities Don Inman for supporting the project and facilitating connections.  Thanks to the COD foundation for funding the project. Thanks to Combined Roofing Services for installing the roof and to Integral Construction for the concrete anchoring.  Thanks to many many others who were also involved. 

This was truly an interdisciplinary effort, and it brings out the best of COD.

Substanial Completion

On Saturday, in the rain, we completed the cedar siding.  We are now substantially complete with this project! Work that remains includes the polycarbonate windows, roofing, and a few minor punch list items.  We are having the roof installed by Combined Roofing who has donated their time to work with our class and help us with the tricky roofing details.

Tired, wet, and done!

Cedar Siding

Last week we completed the siding.  It was a grueling week of construction with intense weather (heat and rain) but we are now mostly done.  We cut a lot of cedar 1x's!  I am really proud of the students for sticking with it past the end of the semester and for their extreme dedication to this project.
